Ibiza, the Clubbers Dream

If your idea of a good holiday is to party, party, party; dancing till you drop, then you'll already know about Ibiza. In fact you probably think this third largest of the Balearic islands was tailor-made for you. It lies nearly 80 kilometres off the coast of Valencia in the idyllic Iberian Peninsula and is famous for its summer club parties.

You will not need an Ibiza Holiday Guide to tell you the best places for clubbing. Pacha is open all year round and popular with the locals as well as tourists; while Space picks up where other clubs leave off, welcoming you in at sunrise so you can continue to party all day. Amnesia, the oldest club, is another great favourite of the locals while Privilege sits in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest nightclub. It holds 10,000 party-lovers.

The legendary Bora Bora beach club in Playa D'en Bossa is an all day long outdoor party area comprising a beach cub, bar, restaurant and nightclub. With the music starting at noon, and the DJs taking up residence at 4.30, this is a popular place to dance away the twilight hours before the nightclubs take over.

If beach clubs appeal, you really must check out Benirras beach on Sundays, where at sunset the drums and bongos begin as the hippies recreate the summer of love. There is also a hippie market in Es Cana where you can buy anything from beaded necklaces to leather belts, bangles to bongos and tie-dyed shirts.

As a brief respite from the clubbing scene, you can enjoy a relaxing drink at Cafe del Mar as you watch the sun setting on the horizon or take a leisurely stroll through the old walled city, drinking in the sights and sounds that are truly, uniquely Ibiza.
